REFUGEES' FORUM

America! America! How beautiful you are! In such a free country where freedom of speech is dearly cherished, African refugees, at last, have their own tribune. Yes, this is a refugees' forum for thoughts, opinions, and debates of all sorts of issues regarding refugees in Iowa, USA, and around the world. $100 Environmental Fee for Whom?

Students who commute every day from Cedar Rapids to the UI say the board of regents did not take into account their needs when it passed the decision to charge a $100 environmental fee on every student this semester.

"They say our money will help meet the cost of energy on the campus," Thomas Ludilla, a Geography major, said. "But I don't live on the campus to be part of the cost."

According to the DI, the board of regents has decided to charge $100 for environmental fee on every student in order to reduce the cost of energy that is caused by students living on the campus.

There was no comment about students who don't live on the campus. Do they have to suffer the same fate as every one, even though most of their energy cost happens where they live--outside the campus?

I wish you all the best. By the way, do you know that two refugees have been arrested in Marshalltown. They are suspected of using someone's documents to work. I think it is a mistake. Those two guys are real refugees living legally in this country. Why don't you make a follow-up on this story?

I understand your comments, dear Mutama, but you have to know that refugees always have unsolvable problems. It does not matter which country they are in. As for refugees in Iowa, I suggest that they use available legal resources at the local universities in order to counsel them how to live safely in America.
In London where I am, refugees have their advocates who intervene on their behalf every time they are in trouble. Isn't that great?
