Immigrants arrested
Hey guys,
I understand your concerns about the arrest of illegal immigrants in Marshalltown. I want you to be assured that there is no refugee among them. I contacted refugees who work at that meat plant, and everyone told me they are safe. Actually, they are inviting other unemployed refugees to consider going to work at that plant. They say it was time for the Homeland Security to do that good job. The INS has cleared the way to jobless refugees to get employed. Also that company will start paying them appropriately since all the illegal workers, who accept low pays, have been kicked out.

$100 Environmental Fee for Whom?
Students who commute every day from Cedar Rapids to the UI say the board of regents did not take into account their needs when it passed the decision to charge a $100 environmental fee on every student this semester.
"They say our money will help meet the cost of energy on the campus," Thomas Ludilla, a Geography major, said. "But I don't live on the campus to be part of the cost."
According to the DI, the board of regents has decided to charge $100 for environmental fee on every student in order to reduce the cost of energy that is caused by students living on the campus.
There was no comment about students who don't live on the campus. Do they have to suffer the same fate as every one, even though most of their energy cost happens where they live--outside the campus?
